We are seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to help ensure our employees are paid accurately and on time while supporting the company’s operational and compliance objectives. About The Role The Payroll Manager oversees the end-to-end payroll function in a unionized manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for accurate and timely payroll administration, compliance with applicable laws and collective bargaining agreements, and effective use of UKG technology. The Payroll Manager works closely with Human Resources, Finance, operations, and other teams to resolve payroll issues, strengthen controls, and improve workflows. The successful candidate is detail-oriented, comfortable managing complex payroll requirements, and committed to providing responsive support to employees and leaders. Qualifications A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field is preferred. Candidates should have proven experience managing payroll, ideally in a manufacturing organization with multiple unions or similarly complex employee groups. Demonstrated proficiency with UKG Pro and UKG Workforce Management (Dimensions) is required, including the ability to apply system capabilities to payroll operations. Applicants should have a strong understanding of payroll practices, applicable regulations, payroll reporting, and the interpretation of collective bargaining agreement provisions that affect pay. Experience maintaining process documentation, strengthening internal controls, and leading process improvements is important. The role also calls for excellent analytical and organizational skills, sound judgment, discretion in handling confidential information, and a high level of attention to detail. Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential when working with employees, union representatives, and cross-functional partners. Responsibilities Manage the complete payroll cycle, from collecting and validating employee and timekeeping information through processing payroll and confirming disbursements. Ensure employees are paid accurately and on schedule, and address discrepancies promptly and professionally. Apply payroll policies and procedures consistently, taking into account applicable legal requirements and the payroll-related terms of collective bargaining agreements. Use UKG Pro and Workforce Management (Dimensions) to support payroll processing, improve data quality, and make workflows more efficient. Monitor system updates and new features, assess their relevance to business needs, and implement appropriate enhancements. Partner with Human Resources, Finance, operations, and system stakeholders to resolve issues and coordinate effective payroll processes. Review payroll workflows and identify opportunities to reduce errors, eliminate bottlenecks, and improve efficiency. Develop and maintain clear documentation of payroll procedures, policies, controls, and system practices, ensuring materials remain accurate and current. Monitor legislative and regulatory developments relevant to payroll, communicate necessary changes to stakeholders, and help maintain compliance. Prepare, review, and analyze payroll reports for management, audits, and regulatory purposes. Protect confidential employee and payroll information and support timely resolution of payroll inquiries.
