About the Role
This position supports the firm-wide payroll function and processes multi-state, semi-monthly payrolls. The Payroll Coordinator reports to the Payroll/HRIS Manager for day-to-day management.
Responsibilities
- Process end-to-end semi-monthly payroll for hourly and salaried employees, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate and timely payroll data.
- Audit employee timesheets and interact with supervisors to verify data and resolve discrepancies.
- Ensure accuracy of federal, state, and local taxes, employee benefit contributions, fringe benefits, garnishments, and other deductions on employee paychecks.
- Process and communicate garnishment information to all parties.
- Enter and maintain documents and data in the firmwide HRIS, including initial employment entry, payroll information, timesheets, vacation, and leave information.
- Monitor impact of changes in the HRIS system and ensure all associated fields and individual history screens are updated correctly.
- Reconcile and generate reports for each payroll, including monthly staffing and FTE reports for accounting, partners, firm management, and administrative cabinet.
- Prepare reports related to the Bureau of Labor & Statistics and develop other reports as needed.
- Respond to questions and inquiries from all levels of firm personnel on payroll-related matters.
- Handle written verifications of employment.
- Enter all payroll-related invoices into the accounting system.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Two years of experience supporting a full-scope multi-state payroll (at least 100 personnel preferred).
- Excellent computer skills, including experience using spreadsheet programs.
- Workday HCM experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of database software and basic programming language preferred.
- Ability to learn advanced functions of HRIS database software and programming/report writing language.
- Analytic accounting/math skills.
- Proficiency in using spreadsheet, database, word processing software, and record-keeping programs in a Windows-based environment.

Schedule
This is a non-exempt position eligible for overtime compensation. Regular office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. PT, Monday through Friday. Ability to work outside of regular office hours, sometimes on short notice, is important.
Pay
The pay range for this position is $56,000 - $98,000. Base compensation may vary based on skills and overall experience. This salary range is based on market location.
