Payroll Coordinator
Highland Ventures is a national venture management company focused on strategically developing and operating businesses centered around its real estate portfolio. A family-owned business, Highland Ventures operates in the real estate, foodservice, and healthcare industries, while also evaluating other industries for investment. Current businesses include Hoogland Restaurant Group (130+ Marco’s Pizza locations), Legacy Commercial Property (800+ commercial properties), Highland Pure Water & Ice (90+ kiosks in 10+ states), and Intune Physical Therapy (19 locations and growing).
About the role
The Payroll Coordinator will serve as a key member of the HR team to assist with managing day-to-day activities that support payroll and other human resources processes and documentation in order to ensure a great employee experience. The individual will be a subject matter expert to support these processes and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and processing of payroll for hourly, salaried, and temporary employees; including reviewing and importing hours from the time and attendance system, PTO, entering tax information, administering regulatory requirements, and other adjustments to pay as necessary.
- Process payroll independently as needed.
- Maintain payroll best practices to improve efficiency and consult with the Director of Human Resources to improve payroll and HRIS processes.
- Investigate and correct wage/hour errors and discrepancies as needed.
- Maintain updated and accurate employee records in payroll/HRIS systems.
- Produce scheduled and ad-hoc reports pertaining to payroll and human resources requirements.
- Maintain complete electronic employee personnel files, records, and other documentation for employees.
- Ensure a great employee experience and support to all employees.
- Provide additional human resources support as needed.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in human resources, payroll experience required.
- Ability to read and write English, follow verbal instructions, and use simple math.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel and reporting skills.
- Familiarity with payroll systems (e.g., ADP) preferred.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Strong knowledge of all aspects of payroll processes and systems.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal & written).
- Thoroughness, attention to detail, and ability to multitask.
- Ethical conduct and works well both as a team and independently.
- Flexibility, willingness to learn, and customer service attitude.
- Technologically savvy.
Work environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers. The position is full-time, in-office (5 days per week) at the Brentwood, TN office.
