Payroll Coordinator
Boone County is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Coordinator to ensure accurate, efficient, and timely payroll processing while serving as the primary resource for payroll-related questions and system support.
Responsibilities
- Process and finalize County payrolls through the County’s ERP system, including retroactive adjustments
- Review electronic timekeeping records and resolve discrepancies involving hours worked, leave, overtime, and compensatory time
- Calculate and process garnishments, child support, deductions, manual checks, and payment requisitions
- Serve as first-level support for the County’s timekeeping and employee self-service systems
- Troubleshoot access issues, time-entry errors, and system problems—and coordinate with Payroll Administration or IT when additional support is needed
- Help employees and supervisors navigate payroll, leave, overtime, taxes, direct deposits, and other payroll-related questions
- Maintain and reconcile employee payroll information, including tax withholding, direct deposit, retirement, benefits, and leave records
- Support state and federal payroll tax reporting and payroll compliance requirements
- Assist with the annual County payroll calendar and tax-rate updates
- Provide backup administrative support to Human Resources & Risk Management and assist internal and external customers
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree OR 3 years of payroll experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree
- Two years of experience working in an office environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Two years of technical bookkeeping experience
- Experience with ERP/HRIS payroll or timekeeping systems

Pay
Hourly Salary Range: $24.40 - $25.95 an hour
