About the role
This position supports the overall payroll process as well as specific payroll-related functions, including data entry, verification, and guidance to system users.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers and employees, answer telephone calls, and direct them to the appropriate office or department.
- Monitor incomplete paperwork and communicate with departments about various steps or requirements throughout the process.
- Input data that results in employee pay and review payroll processes for accuracy.
- Verify all input and ensure compliance with electronic payroll systems used by campus departments.
- Provide guidance to system users and assist with troubleshooting.
- Analyze and review data entry for errors while managing interruptions and multitasking under payroll deadlines.
- Interact professionally with a diverse employee population, including faculty, staff, and student employees.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (required).
Qualifications
- Proficiency using computer applications, including Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and email.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work accurately under the pressure of payroll deadlines.
- Strong multitasking skills and ability to complete tasks despite interruptions.
- Experience analyzing and reviewing data entry for errors.
- Ability to professionally interact with a diverse employee population.
- Knowledge of basic accounting theory (preferred).
- Experience with Banner or similar systems (preferred).
- Experience in a professional office environment (preferred).
Pay
Hourly pay rate: $14.
Schedule
20 hours per week, 12 months per year.
