Responsibilities
- Manage weekly payroll processing for union employees, verifying pay details for accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with applicable agreements.
- Serve as a point of contact for union-related payroll questions and coordinate effectively to address issues that affect employee pay or records.
- Provide administrative support for workers’ compensation cases, including documentation follow-up and maintenance of related files.
- Administer payroll deductions and related obligations such as benefits withholdings, garnishments, child support orders, and tax levies.
- Investigate and respond to employee inquiries involving pay, deductions, and benefit matters, ensuring issues are resolved promptly and professionally.
- Support onboarding activities for new hires by preparing payroll-related records and ensuring employee information is entered correctly.
- Aid in annual benefits enrollment by answering questions and helping process elections accurately.
- Maintain payroll system updates for employee status changes, including hires, separations, leave events, pay adjustments, and personal information updates.
- Organize and safeguard confidential personnel, payroll, and workers’ compensation records in accordance with company policies.
- Partner with contract staffing agencies to coordinate contract-to-permanent recruiting activity and track employee progress toward permanent placement.
Requirements
- Experience processing payroll from start to finish, preferably in an environment supporting 100 to 500 employees.
- Working knowledge of union payroll practices and the ability to interpret contract-related pay requirements.
- Familiarity with payroll deductions and legal withholdings, including garnishments, child support, and tax levies.
- Background in payroll administration and HR support with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency using ADP Payroll or a comparable payroll platform.
- Ability to handle sensitive employee information with discretion and maintain organized records.
- Strong communication skills to assist employees, collaborate with unions, and work with external staffing partners.
