The Payroll, Benefits & Leave Assistant will assist with payroll and benefits administration and will assist with the administration of employee leave.
About the role
- Be the first point of contact for answering benefit, payroll, and leave questions.
- Submit invoices to Finance for processing and payment.
- Act as backup for payroll submissions.
- Distribute initial FMLA, LOA, and OJI paperwork.
- Manage the garnishment cycle, including signing for the garnishment, submitting it to Paylocity for deduction, and auditing for accuracy and completion.

Requirements
- Associate’s Degree in a related field.
- 3 years of experience in a professional HR environment.
- Experience in payroll, benefits, and leave administration preferred.
Qualifications
- Accuracy in calculations and data entry.
- Ability to identify and correct errors in payroll and benefits data.
- Efficiently manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Clear and concise communication with employees and other departments.
- Maintain the privacy of employee payroll information.
- Ability to clearly explain complex benefit plans to employees and answer questions effectively.
- Technical proficiency - Familiarity with benefits administration software and payroll systems.

- Above-average interpersonal, communication, and HR consulting skills with the ability to convey a positive and professional image to applicants and employees.
- Effective oral communication skills including telephone skills and manners to handle calls in a professional, tactful, and courteous manner; ability to deal successfully with the public in a friendly manner.

- Ability to perceive and deal with sensitive issues while maintaining strict confidentiality/objectivity.
- Above-average public speaking/presentation skills to address small and large groups.

- Ability to work as a team player to interact and assist all employees as necessary.
- Ability to work a heavy workload, under pressure of conflicting deadlines and competing needs.
Physical Demands
- Sit and talk or hear.
- Occasionally stand; walk; and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Special Conditions
- Maintains a valid driver’s license and good driving record with an appropriate level of insurance.
- Ability to travel from administrative headquarters to assigned location and overnight travel if necessary.
