Position Summary
This is an entry-level role on the Accounting team for someone who is eager to learn and ready to be developed. You’ll support semi-monthly payroll processing, month-end close activities, compensation expense analyses, and help design and automate accounting workflows using AI tools and technology. With a clear mentor and a structured ramp, you’ll build the foundation for a long-term career in accounting. The role is hybrid with a minimum of three days in office at the LaGrange campus.
What You’ll Do
- Support the financial close: Learn and assist with month-end close, including preparing journal entries, accrual adjustments, and account reconciliations under the guidance of senior team members.
- Aid in payroll processing: Gather information and input certain data needed for semi-monthly or bi-weekly payroll processing.
- Analyze payroll expense: Track, categorize, and report on payroll-related costs; help identify trends, variances, and opportunities to improve accuracy and forecasting.
- Work with AI and technology: Help build and improve accounting workflows and system integrations—using AI tools and automation to reduce manual effort, increase accuracy, and speed up reporting.
- Assist with reporting and analysis: Pull data, build simple reports, and respond to ad hoc questions from across the business as you learn how the numbers connect to the work.
- Investigate and reconcile: Track, research, and help resolve exception-based transactions while developing your problem-solving instincts.
- Learn, document, and improve: Document the processes you learn, ask good questions, and bring fresh ideas for how we can do things better.
- Collaborate: Build relationships across the Finance team and partner with other departments to get work done.
What You Bring (Role Requirements)
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business, Data Analytics, or a related field.
- Internships, part-time work, coursework, or relevant projects are a plus but not required.
- Eagerness to learn, a growth mindset, and the coachability to take feedback and run with it.
- Curiosity about technology and AI, and excitement about using new tools to make work smarter and faster.
- Comfort with Microsoft Excel, or a clear willingness to develop strong Excel skills quickly.
- Strong attention to detail and a natural bias toward accuracy.
- Solid problem-solving and analytical instincts—you enjoy figuring out how things work.
- Good written and verbal communication skills, and a professional, collaborative approach.
- The ability to stay organized, prioritize, and manage your time in a fast-paced environment.
