Responsibilities
- Engage in peer-to-peer scientific dialogue with healthcare professionals that translate into meaningful insight.
- Serve as a therapeutic expert and participate in peer-peer scientific and health economic discussions with relevant health care decision makers (HCDMs) and influencers within US public and private health care entities.
- Establish, cultivate, and maintain scientific relationships with KOL’s while developing a strong understanding of clinical practice as it relates to areas of interest.
- Plan and execute medical strategy and engagement for appropriate assigned customers.
- Communicate clinical and scientific data to KOLs and healthcare professionals through presentations, educational programs, and scientific discussions.
- Identify, gather, and document payer and field generated scientific insights to drive innovative Medical Affairs strategies while complying with industry and corporate policies and procedures.
- Maintain scientific and clinical knowledge base through continuous learning and awareness of related scientific literature to enable meaningful scientific exchange.
- Partner cross-functionally with Medical Affairs, Market Access, HEOR, and Commercial teams to ensure aligned, compliant, and customer-centric payer engagement strategies.
- Leverage knowledge of standards of care and company/investigator sponsored clinical trials and competitor landscape to facilitate external-internal research communication.
- Respond to unsolicited scientific inquiries of Health Care Providers (HCPs)/investigators/health care systems/academic medical centers and treatment team members integrating scientific data including real world evidence in to real life practice to meet customer needs.
- Deliver scientific presentations to formulary committees and other key healthcare decision makers (HCDMs), communicating the health economic model and supporting clinical data, and serve as the primary field-based resource to address questions related to these insights.
- Demonstrate strong expertise in health economic model design and effectively communicate complex concepts in a clear, accessible manner to diverse HCDM audiences.
- Maintain deep knowledge of cost-effectiveness models and budget impact models to support informed decision-making and value discussions.
Requirements
- MD, PhD, PharmD, PA, NP, OD or equivalent degree highly preferred.
- 5+ years of industry experience as a Medical Science Liaison required.
- Clinical or related practical experiences in ophthalmology preferred.
- Strong scientific & clinical acumen.
- Ability to quickly understand & translate complex scientific data & realize the potential impact of that data on clinical practice & potential research needs.
- Experience in Managed Care/PBM, HEOR activities, or strong knowledge of P&T committee processes.
- Ability to travel up to 60% nationally, overnights and weekends may be required, and possess a valid driver’s license to drive to assigned healthcare accounts, unless otherwise specified.
