Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently operate various asphalt paving equipment, including:
- Asphalt Paver
- Screed
- Asphalt Roller
- Power Broom
- Milling Machine
- Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of assigned equipment.
- Monitor equipment performance and report maintenance or repair needs promptly.
- Maintain proper paving grade, slope, and mat quality while following project specifications.
- Clock with foremen, truck drivers, and other crew members to ensure efficient paving operations.
- Assist with equipment setup, breakdown, and general job site preparation.
- Perform routine cleaning and preventative maintenance on equipment.
- Follow all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and traffic control procedures.
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions and on uneven terrain.
- Assist with other construction-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience operating asphalt paving equipment preferred.
- Demonstrated experience operating multiple pieces of paving equipment, including pavers, screeds, rollers, brooms, and milling machines.
- Ability to recognize paving inconsistencies and make necessary adjustments for quality workmanship.
- Knowledge of asphalt paving methods, materials, and construction practices.
- Ability to read and understand grade stakes, paving plans, and project specifications is preferred.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Climb on and off heavy equipment throughout the workday.
- Stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work for extended periods.
- Ability to work long hours, including nights and weekends, when required.
- Tolerate exposure to heat, dust, asphalt fumes, noise, and changing weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience on DOT, municipal, commercial, and private paving projects.
- Experience with GPS or automated grade control systems.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
