PAVING LABORER (SEASONAL)

About the role

This is a seasonal position; you can use your winters off to travel, hunt, fish, or for other activities you enjoy while your benefits continue year-round. As a Seasonal Paving Laborer, you are responsible for completing various laboring and small equipment operation tasks to produce quality asphalt or concrete paving projects. You will need to display a professional and courteous attitude with customers and team members. May also flag or operate skid steer, roller, tractor as needed, and assist in running paving screed.

Responsibilities

• Safely perform labor tasks including any of the following:
  • Measures distance from grade stakes, drive stakes & stretch tight line.
  • Signals operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery to conform to grade specifications.
  • Levels earth using pick or shovel (Aggregate or asphalt).
  • Levels blacktop using lute.
  • Raises manhole covers.
  • Performs flagging duties as needed.
  • May operate small, powered hand tools.
  • May operate small equipment including bobcat, tractor, or roller or move from one site to another.
  • Safely and properly perform maintenance (lubricating, fueling, and cleaning) and operate small equipment, such as bobcat, tractor, jackhammer, roller, pickup truck, air compressor, tractor/packer, steel drum, or rubber tire roller.
  • Removes road joints.
  • Hooks up and unhooks small trailer to pick-up.
  • Fills sandbags.
  • Able to operate skid steer for cleanup of materials.
  • Able to drive truck/skid steer trailer combination to transport skid steers and other equipment and material from site to site (CDL License).
• Communicate effectively (verbal, listening, written) and work with difficult people under high-stress situations.
• Self-motivated, team-player with good interpersonal skills; ability to maintain positive customer relations & act courteous/respectful of others.
• Monitor and discuss production problems with co-workers and managers/supervisors.
• Ensure OSHA, safety, and environmental regulation compliance.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Ability to hold and maintain a valid license in accordance with all state and federal regulations.
• Ability to operate and maintain equipment.
• Ability to work flexible shifts, including overtime and some Saturdays.

Pay

Pay range: $22.00 - $28.00 hourly depending on experience.
