Paving Laborer

Responsibilities

• General laborer duties associated with asphalt paving, patching or prep crews
• Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of equipment and materials
• Ability to shovel, rake and handle other small tools
• Cleans and prepares construction site to eliminate possible hazards
• Measure, mark, or record openings or distances to layout areas where construction work will be performed
• Tend pumps, compressors, or generators to provide power for tools, machinery, or equipment or to heat or move materials
• Absists with the loading and unloading of equipment and materials
• Absists with equipment cleanup as needed
• Operates assigned equipment in compliance with the company’s operating safety policies and procedures
• Performs other related duties as assigned
• Ability to understand verbal orders
• Knowledge of construction knowledge as well as safety standards
• Must comply with municipality requirements, specifications, safety standards and company policies
• Keen attention to detail and awareness to maintain the safety of the work environment
• Ability to work well with others
• Reliable transportation

Salary/Hourly Exemption

• Full-Time, Non-Exempt Position
• Salary based on knowledge and experience

Working Conditions

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions that can include extreme cold, heat and muddy conditions
• Work environment periodically exposes the employees to high levels of noise, grease, and dust that is typically associated with a construction project
• Use of Personal Protection Equipment is required

Working Hours/Expectations

• Ability to work more than 40 hours in any given week including weekend assignments as required

Physical and Mental Demands

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, bend, kneel, or crouch on all different types of terrain.
• Frequent bending, twisting and standing
• The employee is also regularly required to talk, hear, or smell as well as use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
• The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds on occasions
• Must be able to sit for prolonged amounts of time
• Must be able to pass a Drug Screen

Education

• High school or equivalent is preferred

Licenses, Certifications

• Valid Driver License preferred

Non-Essential Requirements

• Experience: Minimum of 1-year of laborer experience preferred
