Pavement Management Engineer (Engineer 6)
About This Job
This position serves as Louisiana's statewide expert in matters pertaining to pavement management. This involves developing, implementing, maintaining, monitoring and revising (as necessary) a comprehensive critical and complex system for maintaining and improving pavement conditions at the network level. This management system is a statewide program which encompasses over 16,000 centerline miles of State Highway System.

Minimum Qualifications
- Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice professional engineering plus one of the following:
- Two years of licensed engineering experience;
- Six years of professional engineering experience.
- Experience Substitutions:
- A master's degree in engineering will substitute for one year of professional engineering experience.
- A doctorate degree in engineering will substitute for two years of professional engineering experience.
- Advanced degrees will substitute for a maximum of two years of professional engineering experience.
- No substitution for licensed engineering experience.
- Engineering experience gained while licensed as a professional engineer will be accepted as licensed engineering experience.
- Engineering experience gained after earning an ABET-accredited degree and prior to earning a professional engineer's license (e.g., as an engineer intern applicant, engineer intern, or equivalent) will be accepted as professional level engineering experience.
- Applications will be accepted from persons licensed to practice professional engineering in states other than Louisiana.

Job Duties
Conducts analyses and prepares reports on current pavement conditions and predicts future pavement conditions using index deterioration models. Provides technical expertise for pavement distress data collection consultant contracts. Designs and updates computerized pavement deterioration models, life cycle costing models and benefit/cost models to use in the Pavement Management analysis software (dTims). Assists in managing pavement distress data collection. Continually acquires highly specialized training in the field of pavement management by attending conferences/workshops and by annual participation in "user" groups' sponsors by the developer of the "multi-year prioritization" procedure.
Position-Specific Details
Compensation: There is a biweekly Special Entry Rate of $3316.00 for this position. The actual starting salary depends on the education and experience of the selected applicant.
Appointment Type: This position may be filled as either a probational appointment; a promotion; or by detail to special duty.
