Job Responsibilities
- Lays out and constructs complex models and molds using blueprints, master patterns and models.
- Determines joints and parting, adds draft filets and radii.
- Plans sequence of operations.
- Uses three axis CAM software to interpret files, program CNC machines, and prepare CAD files.
- Sets up and operates a wide variety of machinery such as lathes, drills, milling machines, CNC machines, etc.
- Grinds, files, and sands parts to achieve a smooth and finished cavity.
- Rigs molds as required.
- Buils fixtures and templates.
- Maintains monitors tooling for wear and breakage and replaces as necessary.
- Performs routine machine maintenance.
- Adds stock to models to allow for machining tolerances.
- Coaches and trains employees as requested.
- Maintains quality and quantity standards for the position.
- Supports the ISO process approach to quality management and the Syteline MIS system.
- Adheres to all safety policies and practices, consistently uses personal protective equipment and practices good housekeeping.
- Maintains regular on-time attendance and adheres to company policies, procedures, and standards of conduct.
- Maintains a positive professional approach with all internal and external customers.
- Applies classroom and on-the-job training information, knowledge, skills, and abilities consistently in a quality-oriented manner.
Educational, Experience Based, and Skill Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent or Trade School graduate with training in shop math, blueprint reading, and machine set-up.
- Completion of a Pattern Maker apprenticeship and five (5) years of experience.
