Position Summary
Transports patients to and from a variety of locations within UMC. Other duties include running errands and changing oxygen tanks.
Job Requirement
- Education/Experience: Graduation from High School or GED.
- Licensing/Certification Requirements: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification accepted by the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Additional Position Requirements: A minimum of one (1) year of recent documented (within the past five (5) years) Patient Transporter experience.
- Preferrred: Recent documented Patient Transporter experience, in an acute care or hospital setting.

- Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Physical Requirements
- Knowledge: Handling, storage, use and disposal of hazardous materials; department and hospital emergency response policies and procedures.
- Skills: Applying CPR; following oral and written instructions; applying proper lifting techniques; using equipment such as radios, battery chargers, gurneys, carts and wheelchairs; communicating effectively with a wide variety of people from diverse socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all personnel contacted in the course of duties; efficient, effective and safe use of equipment.
Physical Requirements And Working Conditions
- Strength, mobility and stamina to perform sustained physical labor, including standing and/or walking for extended periods of time;
- vision to read printed instructions and labels;
- hearing and speech to communicate effectively in-person, over the telephone, and over a two-way radio;
- exert in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
