About the role
The Patient Transporter plays a vital role in the safety of patients by assisting nurses with moving/transporting them throughout the facility with various equipment. This position requires a certification for BLS and interpersonal skills to operate in a direct patient contact environment.
Responsibilities
- Transports patients safely and efficiently between various departments following appropriate transfer techniques and proper isolation/infection control procedures.
- Validates patients' identity based on established department protocol.
- Remains alert to patient condition and promptly communicates changes to clinical staff.
- Affords assistance with patient handling and lifting using appropriate patient safety equipment and safety procedures.
- Provides distribution services of requested items between various departments as needed in accordance with established procedures.
- Responds to all job calls in a timely manner.
- Maintains communication with clinical staff regarding status updates and location information.
- Cleans and disinfects patient care equipment and all other reusable items.
- May perform supply restocking or assume clerical duties of assigned area as necessary.
- Operates golf cart to provide distribution services.
- Transports deceased persons to the facility morgue.
Requirements
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
- Six months previous healthcare or customer service experience preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
Qualifications
- Must possess a valid driver's license and be eligible for coverage under the company’s auto insurance policy if required by facility.

Benefits
- $1/hr. weekend shift differential and 18% night shift differential when applicable.
- Weekend and holiday rotations required.
Pay
- FT Day shift (3 days, 12 hour shifts) 6:00am-6:30pm
