About the Role
The Hospital of Central Connecticut, part of Hartford HealthCare, is an acute-care community teaching hospital providing comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services in general medicine, surgery, and a wide variety of specialties. We are seeking a dedicated individual to ensure the safe, timely, and accurate transport of patients, medical equipment, and patient-related items.
Responsibilities
- Transport patients, medical equipment, and patient-related items to their destinations, enabling physicians, nurses, technicians, and therapists to perform their duties effectively.
- Ensure positive patient and customer satisfaction through proper utilization of body mechanics and adherence to hospital policies, procedures, and standards.
- Act as a positive role model and team player, demonstrating Hartford HealthCare’s mission and values.
- Maintain sensitivity and attentiveness to all patient and guest needs.
- Follow hospital-specific protocols, including isolation and radiation precautions.
- Adhere to all regulatory agency policies, including Federal, State, JCAHO, OSHA, and CDC guidelines.
- Perform care of equipment and supplies.
- Handle transport of patients with specific needs, such as those requiring oxygen tanks, cardiac cath patients, young children, elderly patients, IVs, or drainage tubes.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Requirements
- Ability to read and speak English.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to follow directions and solve basic problems.
- Adherence to all Human Resource policies and procedures, including those in the Employee Handbook, HHC Code of Conduct, and departmental guidelines.
- Ability to maintain a patient/customer focus and foster a teamwork environment.
Qualifications
- Minimum Requirements:
- Must meet all requirements listed under Responsibilities and Requirements.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 3+ months of related experience.
- Proficiency in additional languages is a plus.
Schedule
6:00 AM – 2:30 PM, every other weekend and holiday.
Location
100 Grand Street, New Britain, CT 10126.
