Patient Support Technician, Full Time, Nights

About the Role

Perform routine assistive tasks to support the Registered Nurse in meeting basic patient needs as unlicensed assistive personnel.

Responsibilities

• Assists patients with personal hygiene needs, including bathing, washing hair, brushing teeth and hair, and washing hands.
• Assists patients with nutrition and feeding, including setting up meal trays, assisting with feeding, and drinking.
• Supports patients with ambulation, including walking, using assistive devices, and implementing fall prevention measures under the direction of the registered nurse.
• Meets patients' elimination needs, including assisting with bathroom use, bedside commodes, bedpans, urinals, and accurately monitoring inputs and outputs.
• Completes and documents patient vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, heart rate, and oxygenation via pulse oximetry or ETCO2. Reports abnormal values to the registered nurse.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Completion of a Nursing Assistant, Patient Care Tech, Medical Assistant, or Nursing Fundamentals course.
• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous nursing assistant, medical assistant, or related experience preferred.
• One year of hospital clerical experience preferred.
• In lieu of school verification of a nursing assistant training course, current or former CNA certification may be accepted as proof of completed state-required training at time of hire.
• In lieu of school verification of a medical assistant training course, current or former CMA certification may be accepted as proof of completed required training at time of hire.
• Must successfully complete Prisma Health unit secretary course and training within 90 days of hire.
