About the role

The Patient Services Strategy Franchise Director, Immunology Dermatology plays a key role in the development of AbbVie Patient Services patient support strategies across the Immunology Dermatology - RINVOQ portfolio for current and future pipeline products.

Responsibilities

  • Owns all aspects of development and execution of patient support programs and required resources for the Immunology Dermatology - RINVOQ franchise; defines strategy, care model performance and associated KPIs
  • Leads integrated Patient Services team in the development of US Patient Services solutions and strategies for Immunology Dermatology - RINVOQ indications. Serves as the team leader for the integrated Patient Services care model team meetings to deep dive program effectiveness to identify ways to improve the patient experience and achieve better outcomes
  • Drives patient support strategy, overseeing AbbVie investment and allocation to create effective patient access to RINVOQ in Dermatology and enable adherence to therapeutic solutions
  • Responsible for supporting brand strategic imperatives through designing and optimizing fit-for-purpose patient support ecosystems
  • Establish commercial priorities with Integrated Brand Team (IBT) and liaise with executive management and internal business partners to communicate the business impact of patient support programs
  • Direct interface between the other Patient Services teams and brand partners ensuring programs meet patient/provider needs
  • Promotes accountability for performance across functions, including providing periodic updates to senior leadership on program performance
  • Tracks brand needs, economics, strategies, timelines, and priorities while staying abreast of franchise and patient trends
  • Responsible for the development and execution of the patient care model and supporting care model resources to ensure optimal patient outcomes and care model performance for assigned franchise
  • Accountable for the delivery of patient care model performance, driving cross-functional coordination and resource prioritization across APS to ensure effective care model delivery and support across all brands within the assigned franchise
  • Ensures effective financial planning, resourcing, and prioritization of franchise initiatives with fiscal responsibility and strong budgetary protocols
  • Owns escalation and decision-making for delivery risks, misalignment, or resourcing conflicts, acting as the accountable leader for franchise performance

Requirements

  • Experience with stakeholder and people management; extensive executive presence
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent; advanced degree (MBA, MPH, etc.) preferred
  • 12+ years of experience in healthcare
  • 12+ years of experience working at a pharmaceutical company in roles involving strategy and execution
  • Strong enterprise thinking, strategic planning, and financial acumen, with a data-driven mindset and the ability to connect broader organizational goals to franchise-specific strategies
  • Extensive cross-functional leadership and stakeholder management experience
  • Depth in portfolio strategy, with a proven ability to identify opportunities, anticipate challenges, and guide decision-making at scale
  • Operational track record as a brand/portfolio leader with sophisticated understanding of business strategy, cross-functional stakeholder leadership and project management with a track record of commercial success
  • Significant experience and understanding of commercial and business unit/therapeutic area(s) strategic priorities and managing multiple business cycles (expansion, stabilization, stagnation, etc.). Basic knowledge of all functions (strategy, marketing, access & reimbursement, strategic APS operations, patient engagement, quality & compliance, etc.) and how to optimally leverage
  • Experience navigating in a heavily matrixed business environment, and building influential relationships broadly with a diverse set of stakeholders and key decision makers, internally and externally
  • Catalyst for change: can anticipate and identify changes in the landscape of the patient access and care model ecosphere and pivots as needed to effectively articulate, communicate and implement strategic changes to provide effective solutions for patients and the business
  • Demonstrates strength leading in and through complexity; simplifies most complex topics so others can follow; ability to prioritize and develop actionable strategies; agile, resilient, and determined; comfortable with ambiguity, and possesses the courage to move forward despite imperfect information
  • Strong financial acumen; effective translator of business initiatives to, and from, economic and financial indicators
  • Balances strategic orientation and input with tactical and operational activities; acts as a sounding board and thought partner to various stakeholders. Adept at making trade-off decisions and able to resolve disputes with stakeholders over competing interests and goals; seeks and finds the win-win and/or makes the tough call
