Patient Services Specialist Lead
About the role
The Patient Services Specialist Lead supports the ED Supervisor in coordinating clerical and support activities for Patient Support Service (PSS) staff. They serve as a liaison between patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure smooth communication. They provide guidance to PSS staff, including involvement in hiring, training, and performance feedback.
Responsibilities
- Maintains patient confidentiality and adheres to departmental policies and procedures.
- Uses medical terminology and reference resources effectively; may perform billing and data entry.
- Serves as a key liaison between patients, families, providers, and hospital staff.
- Provides guidance and training to PSS staff; assists with hiring, onboarding, and scheduling.
- Oversees quality control tasks, including registration accuracy and monthly billing.
- Serves as a resource for staff, directing them to appropriate tools and resolving issues independently.
- Performs PSS 2 duties and takes on additional responsibilities in the Supervisor’s absence.
Requirements
- High school graduation or equivalent.
- Three years of Patient Support Service experience.

Compensation, Benefits And Position Details
- Pay Range: Minimum $24.60 hourly, Maximum $35.21 hourly.
- Other Compensation: Evening Shift Differential: $1.75 per hour, Night Shift Differential: $2.50 per hour, Weekend Differential: $2.00 per hour.
