About the role

The Patient Services Specialist Lead supports the ED Supervisor in coordinating clerical and support activities for Patient Support Service (PSS) staff. They serve as a liaison between patients, families, and healthcare teams to ensure smooth communication. They provide guidance to PSS staff, including involvement in hiring, training, and performance feedback.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains patient confidentiality and adheres to departmental policies and procedures.
  • Uses medical terminology and reference resources effectively; may perform billing and data entry.
  • Serves as a key liaison between patients, families, providers, and hospital staff.
  • Provides guidance and training to PSS staff; assists with hiring, onboarding, and scheduling.
  • Oversees quality control tasks, including registration accuracy and monthly billing.
  • Serves as a resource for staff, directing them to appropriate tools and resolving issues independently.
  • Performs PSS 2 duties and takes on additional responsibilities in the Supervisor’s absence.

Requirements

  • High school graduation or equivalent.
  • Three years of Patient Support Service experience.

Compensation, Benefits And Position Details

  • Pay Range: Minimum $24.60 hourly, Maximum $35.21 hourly.
  • Other Compensation: Evening Shift Differential: $1.75 per hour, Night Shift Differential: $2.50 per hour, Weekend Differential: $2.00 per hour.

  • Temporary or Regular: Regular position.
