About the role

We are currently seeking a highly motivated Patient Services Specialist I to support front office operations and coordinate patient access services within our medical clinics.

Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customer service by greeting patients, managing check-in and check-out processes, and assisting with patient inquiries.
  • Schedule, reschedule, and confirm appointments while supporting efficient patient access and clinic operations.
  • Process and track referrals, authorizations, and pre-certifications while coordinating with insurance carriers, provider offices, and patients.
  • Verify insurance eligibility, collect copays, and maintain accurate patient registration and demographic information.
  • Collapse follow-up appointments, specialty care referrals, and diagnostic testing to support continuity of care.
  • Maintain accurate electronic medical records and supporting documentation.
  • Partner with providers, medical assistants, and care teams to improve patient flow, close care gaps, and enhance patient satisfaction.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of clinic operations and patient care.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Medical office experience is preferred.
  • Experience with referrals, authorizations, scheduling, or patient registration is preferred.
  • Knowledge of EMR/EHR systems is required.
  • Strong customer service, communication, and organizational skills are essential.
  • The ability to multitask and prioritize work in a fast-paced healthcare environment is necessary.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is required.

Environmental Job Requirements and Working Conditions

  • The base pay range for this role is $16 - $22 per hour.
  • Frequent interaction with patients, providers, insurance representatives, and clinic staff.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, and computer use throughout the workday.
  • A fast-paced medical office environment requiring attention to detail and effective multitasking.
  • Must maintain professionalism and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and organizational policies.
