About the role
This is a part-time (0.26 FTE) position working every Tuesday 4:30pm-8:00pm, one Friday per month 4:30pm-8:00pm, and every other Saturday and Sunday 2:00pm-8:00pm at our Brooklyn Park location. Twin Cities Orthopedics is an operating division of Infinite Health Collaborative (i-Health), a group of local medical practices owned and led by its physicians, dedicated to giving patients more control over their healthcare.
Responsibilities
- Greet and register patients; collect co-payments, pre-payments, insurance information, and photo ID for incoming patients
- Verify and document insurance information as defined by current business practices
- Accurate and timely scheduling of new and existing patients in the practice management systems
- Communicate all pertinent information to patients, including: appointment information, directions, check-in times, referral information, and copayments
- Chart preparation and management, including preparing for outreach events
- Maintain a working knowledge of health care plan requirements and health plan networks
- Rotate Switchboard Operator duties: accepting, handling, and transferring calls; coordinating interpreters for clinic appointments; and coordinating patient referrals
- Perform any and all other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High School diploma/GED or equivalent
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
- Customer Service experience required
- Administrative or Medical Office experience preferred
- Ability to sit for extended periods (up to 8 or more hours per day)
- Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, writing, and handling documents
- Occasional standing, walking, bending, or reaching within the office environment
- Ability to lift and carry office supplies or files weighing up to 20 pounds
- Visual acuity to read electronic and paper documents
- Auditory ability to participate in phone or video calls clearly
- Manual dexterity to operate standard office equipment (e.g., computer, phone, printer)
- Comply with company policies, procedures, practices, and business ethics guidelines
- Comply with all applicable laws and regulations (e.g., HIPAA, Stark, OSHA, employment laws, etc.)
- Demonstrate prompt and reliable attendance
- Work at an efficient and productive pace, handle interruptions appropriately, and meet deadlines
- Prioritize workload effectively
- Communicate respectfully and professionally in face-to-face, phone, and email interactions
- Apply principles of logical thinking to define problems, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
