About the role

Serves as the first point of contact for patients entering the medical facility. Greets and checks-in patients, verifies information, schedules appointments, and updates Electronic Health Record (EHR). Facilitates intake procedures such as completion of healthcare and insurance forms and collecting payments for services. Gains confidence and cooperation from the patient, their family/support group, and other healthcare providers through competent job performance and effective communication. Adheres to all organizational, local/state/federal regulations, codes, policies and procedures to ensure privacy and safety while delivering optimal patient care. May also be responsible for performing specific tasks and/or orienting other staff to the department.

This is a float pool position which requires travel as needed from Turlock, Ceres, Modesto, Manteca, Lathrop, Tracy, Stockton, Patterson, Lodi, and Riverbank.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and check-in patients
  • Verify patient information
  • Schedule appointments
  • Update Electronic Health Record (EHR)
  • Facilitate intake procedures, including completion of healthcare and insurance forms
  • Collect payments for services
  • Ensure privacy and security of patient Protected Health Information (PHI)
  • Build collaborative relationships with peers and other staff members
  • Prioritize assignments and work within standardized policies and procedures
  • Work independently and as part of a team, handling multiple tasks in an environment with interruptions
  • Identify, evaluate, and resolve standard problems by selecting appropriate solutions from established options

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent education/experience
  • 1 year of experience as typically acquired in a similar environment

Skills

  • Basic knowledge of insurance policies and procedures, as well as patient billing
  • Ability to interpret a variety of data and instructions, furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Written and verbal communication skills to interact with team members, supervisors, patients, and other healthcare personnel
  • Well-developed time management and organizational skills
  • General knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Schedule

  • Full Time (40 hours per week)
  • Shift Hours: 8
  • Days of the Week: Monday - Friday
  • Weekend Requirements: As Needed
  • Shift: Varied

Pay

Pay Range is $26.06 to $36.48 per hour. The compensation range may vary based on the geographic location where the position is filled. Total compensation considers multiple factors, including, but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure, certifications, departmental equity, training, and organizational needs.
