Patient Services Representative

About the role

UPMC Neurological Institute/Sleep Medicine is seeking a Patient Services Representative to join our team! This role offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative healthcare environment supporting patients and providers while delivering exceptional customer service. The position will be onsite for the first three months of employment for training and onboarding, with the opportunity to transition to a work-from-home arrangement thereafter based on departmental needs and performance expectations. Location: 4310 Londonderry Road, Suite 202 Harrisburg, PA 17109.

Responsibilities

• Answer incoming phone calls and direct inquiries appropriately.
• Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments.
• Register patients and verify demographic and insurance information.
• Maintain accurate patient records within the electronic medical record system.
• Manage referrals, authorizations, and other administrative processes as assigned.
• Coordinate communication between patients, providers, and clinical staff.
• Collect and document patient information while maintaining confidentiality.
• Assist with appointment reminders and patient follow-up activities.
• Process incoming correspondence, faxes, and medical records requests.
• Support daily office operations to ensure an efficient patient experience.

Requirements

• Completion of high school graduate or equivalent is required.
• Act 34 clearance.

Skills

• Experience with personal computer-based applications.
• Experience with various office equipment.
• Proficient typing skills.
• Two years of experience in a medical / billing / fiscal or customer service function.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Prior experience with Medipac, Epic, or other health records systems.

Schedule

• Monday: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
• Tuesday: 7:45 AM - 4:30 PM
• Wednesday: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
• Thursday: 7:45 AM - 4:30 PM
• Friday: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
• No weekends or holidays.
