Patient Services Representative

Essential Functions

• Sets up and maintains patient accounts, ensuring all necessary demographic, billing, and clinical information is accurately entered into the registration system.
• Distributes and explains forms, documents, and educational materials to patients or their caregivers, obtaining necessary signatures.
• Communicates with admitting physicians' offices, nursing units, and other relevant personnel to exchange information and determine patient placement.
• Verifies insurance benefits and obtains precertification/authorization as needed, and determines and accepts required payments.
• Researches patients' visit histories to ensure compliance with third-party payer requirements and completes necessary documentation.
• Collects co-pays and other funds from patients according to established criteria.

Non-Essential Functions

• Serves as a backup for other functional areas.
