Patient Services Representative
Frye Regional Medical Center, located in the beautiful foothills of North Carolina, is a 355-bed acute care hospital, an 81-bed Behavioral Health facility, and a network of more than 70 primary and specialty care providers. The medical center employs over 1,500 professional and clinical staff and offers a broad array of inpatient and outpatient care to meet the healthcare needs of the community.
About the Role
The Patient Services Representative facilitates the patient referral process and obtains appropriate pre-certifications as requested by the provider(s). Responsibilities include greeting patients; managing check-in, check-out, scheduling; handling telephones and messages; and collecting and posting co-pays, deductibles, and past-due patient balances at the time of service.
Responsibilities
- Performs scheduling, registration, patient pre-admission, and admission at the physician practice.
- Handles reception and discharge functions.
- Accurately obtains and updates complete patient demographic information.
- Performs compliant patient liability collection techniques before, during, and after the date of service.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate's degree preferred).
- Critical thinking skills and decisive judgment with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
