Responsibilities
- Answers incoming phone calls and dispatches calls as necessary.
- Takes payments for copays and deductibles.
- Makes financial arrangements for patients.
- Performs check-in and check-out duties accurately and promptly.
- Handles appointment scheduling and informs clinical employees or providers of emergencies.
- Verifies insurance eligibility and benefits, and documents the information in the medical record.
- Completes referrals to specialty providers, home health, etc.
- Accurately enters patient demographics into the practice management system.
- Takes and correctly spells patient messages, identifying them by two patient identifiers according to National Patient Safety Goals.
- Directs messages to the appropriate Clinical employee and/or Provider.
- Manages a high volume of telephone calls and patient interactions, maintaining excellent telephone etiquette.
- Organizes workflow to meet patient needs efficiently.
- Reports to the Office Manager/Supervisor.
Qualifications
- 6 months customer service experience.
- Experience in cashier procedures and/or basic accounting, clinic check in/out procedures, basic health insurance, HMO, PPO, and medical terminology.
- General knowledge of CPT and ICD-9 coding.
- 1-year clerical experience.
- 6 months telephone customer service experience.
- Must have a current Oklahoma State Driver's License and an acceptable driving record for operating INTEGRIS-owned or personal vehicles.
