About the role
California Pacific Orthopaedics is hiring Patient Services Representatives for its San Francisco team. This position offers the chance to support patients in a collaborative, innovative, and caring environment.
Responsibilities
- Greets and registers new patients and updates existing patient accounts in a courteous and professional manner in accordance with performance standards.
- Identifies accepted insurance plans and those requiring referrals. Handles any system red flags as they are encountered.
- Determines if patient has a copayment or deposit; accepts and records receipt of payment; provides applicable waiver and obtains appropriate signature; and, when appropriate, scans copy of patient’s photo ID, insurance card, and/or waiver.
- Schedules new or follow-up appointments in a courteous and professional manner in accordance with performance standards.
- Responds to requests from patients, family members, physicians, and staff in a courteous and professional manner in accordance with performance standards.
- Accesses the EHR to communicate with clinical staff members and/or physicians. Manages EHR inbasket(s), work queues, and schedule templates as assigned in accordance with performance standards.
- Performs cashiering and cash handling duties as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned and participates in organization projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- Minimum 1 year of customer service experience in a medical office, insurance, call center, or client services environment is required.
- Experience with scheduling appointments is required.
- Must be flexible and have the ability to multitask.
- Proficiency in computers, using MS Office applications, and with an EHR (preferably Epic) is required.
- Ability to collaborate across departments and build effective relationships with internal and external customers to achieve goals is required.
- Strong problemsolving skills and sound judgment are required.
- Strong organizational skills are required.
- Strong verbal/written communication and listening skills, including excellent interpersonal skills and telephone communication, are required.
- The ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept direction on given assignments is required.
- The ability to deal with confidential information and/or issues using discretion and judgment is required.
