About the role

The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is a leading institution focused on cancer care, research, education, and prevention. The Patient Services Coordinator plays an important role in supporting patients, families, and clinical teams by coordinating appointment scheduling, maintaining records, and facilitating communication throughout the care journey.

Within the Telemetry & Thoracic Cardiovascular Unit, the Patient Services Coordinator helps ensure efficient patient access and coordination for specialized cardiovascular and telemetry care services. The Patient Services Coordinator collaborates with providers and care teams to support timely scheduling, accurate documentation, and a positive patient experience.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and schedule patient appointments while supporting patient access, registration, scheduling, documentation, and financial processes.
  • Schedule provider appointments, diagnostic tests, procedures, and treatments
  • Prepare and maintain daily appointment templates and patient records in One Connect
  • Communicate pertinent information to families, physicians, team members, and other patient care areas
  • Prepare patient materials and documentation according to established procedures
  • Collect co-payments and validate patient insurance information and demographics
  • Update payment and patient information accurately and timely
  • Reconcile the One Connect cash drawer on a daily basis
  • Perform validation of the Medicare Secondary Payer Questionnaire (MSPQ)
  • Ensure coordination of benefits and assignment of Hospital Account Record (HAR)
  • Follow standard operating procedures for the institution and center
  • Protect the security and confidentiality of patient information at all times

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required
  • Associate's Degree preferred
  • 3 years Relevant work experience required, or additional education may be substituted for required experience on a one-to-one basis
  • Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources

Qualifications

The ideal candidate demonstrates the education, experience, and credentials needed to successfully coordinate patient scheduling, maintain patient records, support insurance verification processes, and communicate effectively with patients and healthcare teams.

Pay

Salary Range (Hourly Equivalent): Minimum $19.23 - Midpoint $24.04 - Maximum $28.85

Schedule

The typical work schedule is Evening/Night, Nights, Rotating, Varied, Weekends (7p -7a and 3p -11p)
