Patient Services Coordinator (PRN)

About the role

The Patient Services Coordinator schedules and registers patients for the outpatient clinic, verifies eligibility, and ensures all necessary pre-authorizations, referrals, and pre-certifications are obtained.

Responsibilities

• Schedules and registers patients for the outpatient clinic.
• Verifies eligibility for patients and ensures all pre-authorizations, referrals, and pre-certifications are obtained as necessary by working closely with the physician offices, Utilization Review, and Business Office Departments.
• Performs other job-related duties as directed by the Supervisor.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
• Experience: 1 year of clerical experience in medical office setting required. Other related experience may be considered in lieu of medical office experience.
• Licensure: None
• Additional Skills/Requirements: Knowledge of basic medical terminology, excellent customer service skills, background of insurance knowledge, strong computer skills, proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Office.

• Knowledge of basic medical terminology.

• High degree of excellent customer service skills.
• Comprehension of insurance cards and benefit details.
• Ability to deal directly with the public in a professional and empathetic manner.
• Background/knowledge of government/state and patient assistance programs.
• Working knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding.
• Strong computer skills.
• Proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Office.

Benefits

UVA Community Health offers a competitive base compensation of $21.00 hourly. Please note that the pay rate does not include any applicable incentive compensation programs such as shift differentials, clinical ladders, and other incentives that may be available for those in eligible positions.

Pay

The base compensation for this role is $21.00 hourly.

Schedule
