Patient Service Representative (Temporary) (PC/WIC Float)

About the role

As a PMC Patient Service Representative (PSR), you will serve as an essential part of the patient’s experience, acting as a liaison between patients and medical support staff by greeting, instructing, and directing patients and visitors. You will perform tasks such as entering patient demographics, insurance information, and collecting payments during check-in/out or when scheduling appointments. You will also schedule patient appointments for both established and, when appropriate, new patients.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous, and helpful manner; answer requests for information.
• Check in patients, verify and update necessary information, acknowledge patients, and check patients out.
• Keep patients informed of the physician’s timetable if it will increase waiting time.
• Advise patients regarding financial obligations, including co-payments, deductible amounts, and insurance eligibility.
• Maintain the lobby in a neat and orderly manner, including keeping magazines current.
• Maintain and coordinate physicians’ schedules, with thorough knowledge of physician specialties and medical practices.
• Answer telephones and return calls in a timely manner, take messages, handle requests, and provide accurate information.
• Handle mail, paperwork via fax, and medical records, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Support the PMC mission by providing the highest quality of care to patients and the communities served.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• One to two-year experience in a medical office setting (preferred).
