Patient Service Representative - Radiology - Torrey Pines

About the role

Join a caring team supporting Scripps Green Hospital as a Patient Service Representative in the Radiology department. Located on the Torrey Pines Mesa near I-5 and Genesee Avenue in La Jolla, Scripps Green Hospital has served the greater San Diego community since 1977. This is a benefitted Part Time (48 hours per pay period) position with a varied day shift schedule, including some weekends.

Responsibilities

• Interact with patients and providers to gather information for accurate registration.
• Assign Medical Record Numbers, schedule appointments, collect point-of-service payments, collect documents, and handle check-out functions.
• Respond to customer billing and payment inquiries.
• Manage the check-in or check-out process, including identification verification, confirming demographic and insurance information, ensuring appropriate forms are provided, signed, and witnessed, and accurately preparing end-of-day reporting or payment reconciliation.
• Schedule and confirm appointments in person or over the phone and enter appropriate insurance information.
• Initiate and validate referrals/authorizations.
• Demonstrate a proactive approach to customer service by listening to patients, taking ownership of solutions, and identifying when to involve leadership to resolve concerns.

Requirements

• Demonstrate proficiency in computer applications, excellent mathematical skills, and ability to handle monies.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Strong organizational and analytical skills; innovative with the ability to identify and solve problems.

Preferred Qualifications

• 1 year of experience in customer service or a healthcare/medical office environment.
• Able to adapt, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, commercial and government health insurance and billing guidelines, ACA requirements, understanding of DRGs, Medical ICD-9/ICD-10 codes, and CPT/HCPC Codes and Modifiers.

Pay

$25.95-$32.56/hour

Schedule
