Patient Service Representative - Patient Registration

Responsible and accountable for the coordination of information and support needed for the flow of patients in the Swedish Medical Center and Emergency Department environment. Provides front line customer service including reception and registration.

Responsibilities

  • Interview patients and family to obtain required demographic and financial data, complete consents, escort/direct patients, and collect valuables and deposits.
  • Serve as the initial contact for patients/visitors with general billing, insurance, or collection questions/concerns.
  • Assist patients requesting financial assistance through financial aid programs, process necessary paperwork, and serve as a conduit to appropriate staff for determining alternate sources of coverage, including payment arrangements for private pay accounts.
  • Act as the POS team expert to facilitate all aspects of registration functions for patients during their hospitalization.
  • Coordinate coverage issues with physician offices and POS team members, ensuring timely and accurate patient information flow.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities of the Medical Center and Emergency Department.
  • Perform other special project assignments as directed.
  • Flexible in working occasional unscheduled shifts or portions of shifts due to urgent situations and assist in finding coverage for absences as needed.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree (preferred).
  • 2 years' experience in a medical setting with inpatient or outpatient admitting.
  • Patient registration, financial counseling, or insurance and medical terminology experience.

Pay

Pay range: $29.68 - $41.08 per hour. These amounts are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.

Schedule

Full time, day shift. Flexibility required for occasional unscheduled shifts due to urgent situations.

Work Location: Swedish First Hill, 747 Broadway, Seattle, WA. On-site workplace type.
