About the role
The Department 13320 Enterprise Revenue Cycle - Wake Forest NC Main Campus Arrival Emergency Department is seeking a Patient Services Representative (PSR).
Responsibilities
- Greets patients arriving for their appointments.
- Maintains patient flow to ensure efficient and courteous care.
- Completes the registration process on walk-in patients, verifying and updating patient information.
- Verifies and updates insurance information.
- Calculates and collects patient financial liability.
- Ensures compliance with financial clearance policies and refers patients to financial counselors.
- Identifies and assists patients in need of financial assistance.
- Performs visit closure, including checking out patients and scheduling follow-up appointments.
- Maintains knowledge of insurance requirements and guidelines.
- Communicates issues related to customer service and process improvements to management.
- Maintains high accuracy rates and productivity levels.
- Maintains excellent public relations with patients, families, and clinical staff.
- Works collaboratively with others to ensure smooth information flow.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Patient access (scheduling, registration, and financial clearance) experience preferred.
- No licensure, certification, or registration required.
Qualifications
- Ability to identify and understand issues and problems.
- Knowledge and ability to articulate explanations of Medicare, HIPAA, and EMTALA rules and regulations.
- Mathematical aptitude, effective oral and written communication skills, and critical thinking skills.
- Understanding of basic human anatomy, medical terminology, and procedures.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to speak effectively to customers or employees of the organization.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information according to internal policies.
- Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel, and ADT software.
- Ability to write routine correspondence, calculate figures and amounts such as discounts and percentages.
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision, problem solve in a high-profile and high-stress area, and interact positively with all internal and external customers.

Pay
$20.80 - $31.20 per hour
Schedule
2-week schedule track: Week 1: Sunday, Monday, Wednesday-Friday; Week 2: Monday- Wednesday, Friday, Saturday
