Patient Service Representative
Join our healthcare team as a Patient Service Representative and serve as the first connection between Intermountain and patients. This role focuses on establishing collaborative relationships with patients and fellow caregivers to deliver exceptional customer and patient satisfaction.
About the role
We are actively seeking candidates for positions at the following clinics:
- Alta View Hospital
- Alta View Clinic
- Alta View Specialty Clinic
This is a full-time, on-site position located in Sandy, Utah.
Responsibilities
- Provide courteous and professional connections with patients over the phone, in person, or via secure messaging.
- Resolve patient needs to ensure a superior customer experience related to patient intake and care.
- Document all phone calls accurately and completely in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Schedule patient appointments for visits, procedures, diagnostic tests, referrals, and/or consultations.
- Register patients over the phone or in person by confirming, entering, and/or updating all required demographic data.
- Follow procedures for patient identification.
- Obtain copies of insurance cards, forms of ID, and signatures on all required forms.
- Verify insurance coordination of benefits, including pre-certification/prior authorization.
- Assist patients in completing necessary forms to meet regulatory and billing needs prior to receiving clinical care.
- Scan necessary paperwork and educate patients on financial assistance.
- Proactively request and process payments from patients for current and past medical services.
- Stay current on role responsibilities and updates by reviewing communications, dashboards, and attending meetings.
Requirements
- Six months of customer service experience involving interactions with customers.
- Demonstrated basic computer skills involving word processing and data entry.
- Professional manner and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with patients and fellow caregivers.
- Ability to protect privacy, confidentiality, and Protected Health Information (PHI).
Preferred Qualifications
- One year of customer service experience involving in-person and phone interactions.
- Billing and collections experience.
- Computer literacy in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems and other relevant software.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Multilingual abilities.

Physical Requirements
- Ongoing need to see and read information, labels, documents, monitors, and identify equipment and supplies.
- Frequent verbal communication and active listening to understand needs and issues quickly and accurately.
- Manual dexterity for manipulating complex and delicate supplies and equipment, including frequent computer use.
- May require standing for long periods of time and lifting supplies.
- May assist patients into/out of the clinic.
Pay
Entry rate: $18.31 - $23.80 per hour, depending on experience.
Schedule
Full-time, 36-40 hours per week. Schedules will vary.
