Patient Service Rep II - Vascular Surgery
Job Requirements
The Patient Service Representative II provides friendly, efficient, and accurate patient experience by demonstrating outstanding customer service skills and using technology to manage patient care including registration, appointment scheduling, assisting other clinical specialties, and assistance with a variety of departmental projects and clerical duties.
Primary Accountabilities
- Prioritize work and manage time efficiently.
- Obtain demographic and insurance information from patients and input data accurately into the patient management system.
- Obtain required signatures on consents and distribute patient information and compliance literature.
- Process and maintain all schedules for the area of responsibility, communicate schedule changes as needed.
- Analyze and recognize trends/issues and escalate to management.
- Aid in training new staff on department-specific procedures and applications.
- Facilitate patient appointments and referrals in a timely, efficient, and friendly manner.
- Answer telephones properly, courteously, and tactfully; direct calls and return messages to the appropriate party; take complete and accurate messages.
- Perform all Patient Service Representative duties in various specialties across Health First Medical Group.
- Collect all current and past-due patient responsibility balances.
- Prepare financial estimates of anticipated prices for services prior to services being rendered and communicate estimated costs to the patient.
Work Experience
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience with electronic health records system (EHR).
- Minimum of two (2) years’ relative healthcare experience.
- None required.
- Any one of the following certifications:
- American Heart Association (AHA) HeartSaver CPR AED Course Certification prior to start date and maintained.
- Health First Medical Terminology Course Certification within ninety (90) days of start date and maintained.
- Health First Insurance 101 Course Certification within ninety (90) days of start date and maintained.
- Health First Safety and Security De-escalation Course Certification within ninety (90) days of start date and maintained.
Background Check
If hired into Memory Disorder Clinic or Health First Aging, satisfy the State of Florida, Agency for Healthcare Administration (ACHA) Level 2 background screening.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications – Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, etc.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to relate well to all customers.
- Knowledge of Healthcare terminology.
Preferred Qualifications
- Education: Associate’s degree in relevant field.
- Work Experience: Five (5) years of Healthcare office experience.
Physical Requirements
- Majority of time involves sitting or standing; occasional walking, bending, and stooping.
- Long periods of computer time or at workstation.
- Lifting or moving objects up to 20 pounds with or without assistance.
- May be exposed to inside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting and/or low to moderate noise.
- Communicating with others to exchange information.
- Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks.
- Workspace may vary from open to confined.
- May require travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter; may require use of personal vehicle.
