Patient Safety Observer - Per Diem - Days

About the role

Provides patient safety monitoring through visual and digital surveillance, ensuring high-risk patients are protected from falls, elopement, and disruptive behaviors.

Responsibilities

• Performs continuous remote or one-on-one monitoring
• Communicates observations to the clinical team
• Documents patient activities accurately
• Assists with patient care and hazard removal when bedside monitoring is required
• Maintains constant patient observation
• Reports safety issues
• Follows departmental protocols

Qualifications & Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Basic computer skills
• Certifications such as BLS
• Critical thinking
• Attention to detail
• Effective communication
• Ability to handle stressful situations
• Prior healthcare experience preferred
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred

Key Duties

• Conduct hourly rounds
• Redirect patients verbally
• Report safety concerns
• Support patient-centered care
• Demonstrate flexibility
• Maintain confidentiality
• Adhere to safety policies
• Manage multiple monitor screens and patient interactions

Working Conditions

Involves physical tasks like bending, reaching, and repetitive movements, with high visual, auditory, and color discrimination demands. Day shifts are typical.
