About the role

PRN | Variable The Patient Safety Attendant (PSA) ensures patient safety by remaining at the bedside of the assigned patient(s) and providing continuous observation under the direction of the Registered Nurse. In a secondary role the PSA serves as a mobility assistant and works with the Registered Nurse to optimize patient mobility using specialized patient lifting equipment. The PSA provides nursing support to achieve the organization's mission of excellent patient care and nursing's vision of setting a new standard of excellence in autonomous and accountable nursing practice committed to patient advocacy and innovative patient care in a climate of trust and collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Remain at the bedside of assigned patient(s) and provide continuous observation under RN direction.
• Serve as a mobility assistant, working with the RN to optimize patient mobility using specialized patient lifting equipment.
• Provide nursing support to achieve the organization's mission of excellent patient care and nursing's vision of setting a new standard of excellence in autonomous and accountable nursing practice committed to patient advocacy and innovative patient care in a climate of trust and collaboration.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Motor Vehicle Operator Designation: Employees in this position will not operate vehicles for an assigned business purpose. (A frequent driver is defined as one who uses his/her personal or Shands automobile at least once daily, at least five individual trips per week, or drives over 150 miles per week in the performance of his/her job.)
