Provides direct monitoring of patients to ensure safety via continuous observation using the AvaSys Telesitter System or in-person. Promotes patient safety, privacy, confidentiality, and professionalism.
Responsibilities
- Maintains patient safety and security while remaining alert, attentive, and distraction-free; observes patient behavior and reports inappropriate and non-compliant behavior to appropriate staff.
- Demonstrates understanding and proficiency in using the AvaSys TeleSitter Solution software to provide appropriate observation for patients requiring telesitter monitoring.
- Maintains visual observation at all times; verbally redirects patients in-person or via digital 2-way audio device in the patient room.
- Immediately summons nursing staff if the patient requires assistance.
- Accurately and consistently completes all required, time-sensitive documentation.
- Participates in shift handoff with on-coming staff using standard formats; reviews pertinent information and behaviors with nursing staff.
- Provides patients with explanations as necessary without counseling or offering opinions; maintains patient dignity and privacy in an age and culturally appropriate manner.
- Communicates timely information to floor staff when a patient poses a threat to themselves or others; collaborates in identifying and reporting patient safety issues.
- Ensures patient environment safety by removing or coordinating the removal of potential hazards and reporting findings to appropriate staff.
- Demonstrates safe work practices, follows safety rules, and participates in organizational and department safety programs.
- Participates in regular training and education sessions for skill and competency development.
Requirements
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- Previous experience in a hospital environment preferred.
- Previous clinical experience preferred.
- Previous direct patient care experience preferred.
- Certification (e.g., Nurse Assistant, Medical Assistant) preferred.
Skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, visitors, and staff.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Knowledge of the Epic patient record system.
- Efficiency in multitasking and ability to prioritize simultaneous situations.
Working Conditions
There is a reasonable expectation that employees in this position will be exposed to blood-borne pathogens.
Pay
$17.10—$20.16 USD per hour.
