Patient Safety Attendant Emergency Dept
About the role
Maintains safety and security of patients at all times by assisting nursing staff in the monitoring of patients on emergency petition, with mental health diagnosis (such as psychiatric conditions and suicidal ideology), as well as behavioral health issues. Assists in providing a safe environment for cognitively impaired, disoriented, manic and/or patients who may self-harm. Communicates and collaborates with care team members to support the provision of safe, high-quality health care. All duties described will be carried out under the direction, discretion, and supervision of the Registered Nurse. Other duties may be assigned as deemed necessary.

- Assists in maintaining a safe environment for patients with mental health diagnoses.

- Supports the Mission of Trinity Health and Holy Cross Health.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous experience in an acute healthcare facility with mental health or psychiatric patients preferred.
- Nursing assistant certification preferred.
- BLS/CPR certification required.
Qualifications
- Possesses a broad practical understanding of life experience and the ability to relate to individuals with behavioral or mental health disorders.
- Ability to successfully complete required training and demonstrate associated knowledge and skills.
- Computer and audiovisual skills using various applications and technologies: Internet, email, word processing, wireless phone, electronic medical record.
- Ability to work in a high-stress environment.
- Effectively read, speak, write, compose and comprehend English.
- Effective eye and hand coordination.
- Effective problem-solving skills.
- Ability to multi-task, organize and prioritize.
- Ability to work well and effectively communicate with individuals and teams.
Skills
- Independent lifting and moving of patients and patient care equipment up to 35 pounds.
- Utilizing a computer for periods of time throughout the shift.
- Performing fine motor skills both upper extremities.

Pay
Pay Range: $17.00- 20.55 Pay is based on experience, skills and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
