Patient Safety Assistant - Part- Time House Operations

About the role

The Patient Safety Assistant (PSA) position at JPS Health Network is a part-time role located at John Peter Smith Hospital. This position assists in creating a safe environment for patients who are identified as being at risk for self-harm, falls, or other behavioral impairments.

Responsibilities

• Monitors patients identified as being at risk for self-injury, falls, or behaviorally impaired.
• Notifies the patient’s nurse when the patient displays actions or behaviors that suggest they might harm themselves or others, or when the patient is unable to use the call light and requests assistance.
• Attends to patients' activities of daily living, obtains and reports vital signs and intake and output to the primary nurse.
• Documents patient behavior according to JPS Health Network policies and District policy 910-032 during their assigned shift using all required forms or reporting systems as appropriate.

Requirements

• Completion of Therapeutic Options within 90 days of hire if working in Behavioral Health or Emergency Department.
• Current JPS recognized Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and must be maintained throughout employment.

Qualifications

• Completion of High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Some work experience (less than 6 months).
