Patient Safety Aide - Med Surg - Labor Pool

Location: Onancock, Virginia

Hiring Range: $17.00 – $28.00 per hour (actual pay determined by program, work commitment, and business needs)

Overview

The Patient Safety Aide reports to the Nurse Manager and works under the direct supervision of the RN, taking care of the assigned patient. Duties include providing safety for the patient at all times by observing patient activities and reporting unsafe behaviors.

Responsibilities

• Sits in the assigned patient’s room to observe the patient and ensure the patient causes no harm to themselves or others.
• Specifically ensures the patient does not attempt suicide, fall, injure self, remove IVs, dressings, etc., or leave the hospital against medical advice.
• Promotes teamwork by working effectively as a team member as well as independently, seeking assistance as needed.
• Consistently keeps the team informed of changes as they arise, working closely with all team members to provide quality care and customer service.
• Provides exceptional customer service to all patients and customers.

Qualifications

• Education: Program graduate, Nurse Aide Program (preferred).
• Experience: Less than 1 year; experience with patients in acute care or nursing home (preferred).
• Licenses and Certifications: CPR/BLS Certification – American Heart Association/American Red Cross/American Safety and Health Institute (AHA/ARC) required upon hire.
