About the role
The Patient Representative in Medical Oncology supports the needs of cancer patients at the Hartford HealthCare Cancer Institute. This position works in a medical office setting and is responsible for a variety of administrative tasks.
Responsibilities
- Scheduling appointments
- Calling pharmacies to verify prescriptions
- Billing patients and verifying precertification
- Triage phone calls from patients, physicians, and insurance companies
- Maintain patient and business confidentiality
- Other duties as assigned to meet department needs
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Some college preferred
- A minimum of three (3) or more years of medical administrative experience
Qualifications
- Strong communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize workload
- Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures
Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR)
- Strong customer service orientation
