About the role
We are looking for a full-time Patient Relations Specialist to join our team in Bedford Park, Illinois. This on-site role operates Monday through Friday, with hours varying between 7:00 am and 5:00 pm.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients professionally and courteously, both in person and on the phone
- Answer, screen, and direct incoming calls as necessary
- Assist patients with check-in forms, maintain accurate patient records, and collect and process applicable payments
- Perform clerical account processing while confidentially maintaining and protecting patient information by adhering to the HIPAA Privacy Rule
- Schedule and confirm clinical appointments using our medical records platform, Medics Premier
- Ensure orders are correctly scheduled, including verifying name, exam type, referring provider, and authorization request
- Provide administrative support in collaboration with internal departmental teams
- Notify technologists of appointment arrivals and assist with patient flow
- Understand standard insurance protocols for referrals, authorizations, co-payments, and deductibles
- Obtain authorization for scheduled services, provide required clinical documents if needed, and notify if financial clearance is not achieved in advance
- Perform all other duties as assigned
- Alternate between prolonged periods of sitting, frequent standing, lifting, reaching, and stooping; must be able to lift up to 15 lbs
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED Certificate
- Relevant prior experience working in a medical/office setting is favored
- Prior data entry/word processing experience
- Medical terminology knowledge is a plus
