Job Responsibilities

  • Register and update patient information accurately in Athena, ensuring demographic and insurance data is correct and complete.
  • Reconcile and maintain patient records, making corrections as necessary to ensure account accuracy.
  • Scrub and verify insurance eligibility ahead of upcoming appointments to avoid billing or coverage issues.
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with patients regarding registration, insurance, and account information.
  • Provide high-level customer service by addressing patient inquiries with empathy, professionalism, and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to resolve discrepancies in patient information and support seamless care delivery.
  • Utilize strong computer skills to navigate multiple systems and perform data entry with accuracy and speed.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of various insurance plans, requirements, and policies to assist patients effectively.
  • Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills to identify and resolve registration, eligibility, and account issues.
  • Uphold confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and organizational policies.

Job Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent required; an associate degree or relevant healthcare coursework preferred.
  • Previous experience in patient registration, medical front office, or healthcare administration strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Athenahealth (Athena) or similar electronic health record (EHR) system preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of insurance plans, eligibility requirements, and coverage processes.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a focus on patient-centered service.
  • Strong computer proficiency, including MS Office and healthcare software systems.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to problem-solve effectively and work both independently and as part of a team.
