Patient Registration Representative

Primary Responsibilities

• Responsible for the registration of all patients' accessing services with emphasis on patient access/satisfaction, insurance/demographic verification and accuracy, scheduling, and point of service collection, while maintaining confidentiality, professionalism and ethics
• Greet patients
• Cook up patient flow to reduce wait times
• Aid patients with intake processes
• Collect co-payments, co-insurance and deductibles
• Process walk-in patients and visitors
• Confirm eligibility and verify insurance benefits
• Ensure all necessary demographic and billing information is obtained for patients and entered in the computer system timely and accurately
• May schedule appointment times using computerized scheduling programs
• Explain financial responsibilities for services received, payment options, and collection procedures to patients and/or parties responsible for payment
• Counsel patients regarding insurance benefits and recommend alternative sources of payment and/or financial assistance when appropriate
• Accept payments and co-pays
• Communicate effectively with insurance companies, external agencies, patients, physicians, and team members

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED
• 1+ years of customer service experience
• Availability to cover all ED shifts ED (1st, 2nd, 3rd), in typically 10-hour shifts:
• 1st shift, any hours between 7:00am-5:30pm
• 2nd shift, any hours between 3:00pm-3:30am
• 3rd shift, any hours between 7:00p-7:00am
• Ability to work every other weekend, and occasional holidays per business need
• Must be 18 years of age OR older

Preferred Qualifications

• 1+ years of related work experience, including data entry
• Working knowledge of medical office procedures and medical terminology

Pay and Benefits

• Hourly pay for this role will range from $16 - $29 per hour based on full-time employment
