About the role

The Patient Registration Representative ensures a positive patient experience during registration, collecting accurate demographics, verifying insurance, determining/collecting financial liability, and explaining hospital policies and patient rights to families.

Duties include maintaining up-to-date knowledge of specific registration requirements, ensuring complete, accurate and timely entry of demographic information into the ADT system, properly identifying patients to ensure medical record numbers are not duplicated, reviewing assigned accounts for accuracy and required documentation, meeting CMS billing requirements, collecting and entering required data into the ADT system, and collecting and entering required data into the ADT system with emphasis on accuracy of demographic and financial information.

Requirements include a high school graduate or GED, 1 year of experience working in a hospital Patient Registration department, physician office setting, healthcare insurance company, revenue cycle vendor, and/or other revenue cycle related roles, and experience in requesting and processing financial payments.

Responsibilities

  • Identify patients, collect accurate demographics, verify insurance, determine/collect financial liability, and explain hospital policies and patient rights to families.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of specific registration requirements for all areas, including but not limited to: Main Admitting, OP Registration, ED Registration, Maternity, and Rehabilitation units.
  • Ensure complete, accurate and timely entry of demographic information into the ADT system at the time of registration.
  • Properly identify the patient to ensure medical record numbers are not duplicated.
  • Review assigned accounts to ensure accuracy and required documentation is obtained and complete.
  • Meet CMS billing requirements for the completion of the MSP, issuance of the Important Message from Medicare, issuance of the Observation Notice, and other requirements, as applicable and documenting completion within the hospital's information system for regulatory compliance and audit purposes.
  • Collects and enters required data into the ADT system with emphasis on accuracy of demographic and financial information in order to ensure appropriate reimbursement.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate General Studies and Minimum 1 year of experience working in a hospital Patient Registration department, physician office setting, healthcare insurance company, revenue cycle vendor, and/or other revenue cycle related roles.
  • Experience in requesting and processing financial payments.

Pay

The posted compensation range of $24.00 - $29.90 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting.
