Essential Job Responsibilities
- Ensures a welcoming, safe and healing environment for each patient and family during the admissions process.
- Delivers excellent customer service.
- Deescalates individuals in crisis in a calm and supportive manner, works in stressful situations, and allies with people in crisis.
- Explains HIPAA rights and obtains patient acknowledgment of the HIPAA notification form.
- Copies patient's insurance cards and photo identification, obtains release to communicate with third-party payers, and files insurance.
- Explain admission consent to treat forms and collect required signatures, and obtain and explain release for personal property search.
- Obtains and explains release for families, referral sources, clinicians, and other related persons in compliance with 42 CFR.
- Reviews demographic and insurance information with patients to ensure accuracy, audits electronic medical record demographic information to ensure loaded correctly, and distributes demographic, insurance, and release information to internal customers.
- Generates accounts in patient billing software, manages daily residential census in patient billing software, and recommends ways to improve the quality and delivery of services.
- Maintains confidentiality of company and patient information and maintains cleanliness of work areas and patient waiting areas.
- Reacts productively to change.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or GED is preferred.
- CPRS certification is preferred but not required.
- Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft (Outlook, Work, and Excel) are required.
- The ability to problem-solve, analyze, and interpret information is necessary.
- The ability to adapt to changing circumstances and patient needs in a fast-paced environment is essential.
- The ability to be open and culturally sensitive to a wide variety of patients' experiences is required.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to effectively speak, read, and write in English are necessary.
- The ability to interact with co-workers in a collaborative and courteous manner while providing guidance, instruction, and training is required.
- If recovering, one year of verifiable abstinence is required with two years preferred; active participation in a twelve-step program is preferred.
