Responsibilities

  • Functions under the direction of VPNE in conjunction with the unit and clinical team overseeing the patient’s stay.
  • Provides care to the patient according to their individual needs.
  • Nursing care is provided by nursing staff.
  • Performs patient observation as assigned.
  • Documents patients' behavior using the appropriate form/tool.
  • Obtains appropriate information at the start of the shift regarding care from the Registered Nurse.
  • Adheres to patient conversation guidelines.
  • Maintains the safety of the patient and ensures a safe environment as directed by the Registered Nurse.
  • Makes sure the patient is in a safe position in the room when appropriate, such as back to the door, and keeps the patient in sight at all times.
  • Monitors the patient for escalating behavior.
  • Accompanies the patient to the bathroom and testing as needed.
  • Demonstrates proficiency with the use of bed alarms.
  • Plays no part in the patient's clothing and belongings, which are placed in the patient's closet away from the patient.
  • Displays the skills and judgment necessary to provide direct care to patients under the direct supervision of licensed personnel.
  • Observes and reports the patient's status and needs to the nurse.
  • Remains on duty until relieved by oncoming coverage or the nurse discontinues coverage.

Qualifications

  • Entry Level Experience.
  • Proficient in English both verbally and written.
  • Previous service industry experience preferred, along with the ability to perform safeguarding.
