Responsibilities
- Functions under the direction of VPNE in conjunction with the unit and clinical team overseeing the patient’s stay.
- Provides care to the patient according to their individual needs.
- Nursing care is provided by nursing staff.
- Performs patient observation as assigned.
- Documents patients' behavior using the appropriate form/tool.
- Obtains appropriate information at the start of the shift regarding care from the Registered Nurse.
- Adheres to patient conversation guidelines.
- Maintains the safety of the patient and ensures a safe environment as directed by the Registered Nurse.
- Makes sure the patient is in a safe position in the room when appropriate, such as back to the door, and keeps the patient in sight at all times.
- Monitors the patient for escalating behavior.
- Accompanies the patient to the bathroom and testing as needed.
- Demonstrates proficiency with the use of bed alarms.
- Plays no part in the patient's clothing and belongings, which are placed in the patient's closet away from the patient.
- Displays the skills and judgment necessary to provide direct care to patients under the direct supervision of licensed personnel.
- Observes and reports the patient's status and needs to the nurse.
- Remains on duty until relieved by oncoming coverage or the nurse discontinues coverage.
Qualifications
- Entry Level Experience.
- Proficient in English both verbally and written.
- Previous service industry experience preferred, along with the ability to perform safeguarding.
