Key Responsibilities
- Provide fair, accurate, and impartial education to patients and families on Qualified Health Plans (QHPs), eligibility requirements, and available affordability or assistance programs.
- Support patients through eligibility screening and enrollment applications, including QHP enrollment through Federal and State Exchanges.
- Aid individuals with disabilities directly or by connecting them to appropriate Exchange resources.
- Maintain compliance with CMS requirements, HIPAA, and IRC policies, and protect patient confidentiality.
- Document patient interactions and enrollment activity accurately and timely, maintaining organized records.
- Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients, caregivers, and clinic partners, and escalate issues appropriately.
- Use sound judgment, manage multiple cases and deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
- A bachelor’s degree in healthcare or related field preferred (experience considered).
- 1–3 years of experience in health insurance, patient advocacy, or enrollment.
- Understanding of QHPs, eligibility rules, and HIPAA standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Ability to travel locally up to once per month.
